• Approximately 70% of the body is made up of water

• Approximately 70% of muscle is made of water

• Water helps convert food into energy

  • Water lubricates joints and it protects and cushions vital organs

    • Water naturally helps the body metabolize fats

    • Water is necessary for breathing -our lungs must be moist to take in oxygen and release carbon dioxide

    • Water delivers oxygen to the muscles fueling them in the course of exercise

    • Water helps to cool the body through perspiration

    • Water helps to promote healthy skin

    For Pursuing Peak Youth Soccer Performance


    • To stay well hydrated athletes need to consume a minimum of 8-16 cups (2-4 liters) of fluid a day (for younger athletes that might be a little lower)

    • Water is best absorbed into the body when it is cool (10-15C 0r 50-59F)


    Pre-Exercise or Sport

  • drink 500ml -600ml of fluid 2-3 hours prior to activity (1 500ml bottle)

  • consume 200-300ml 10 to 20 minutes prior to activity.

    The amounts will vary from individual to individual.
    You need find out what works best for you.


    Post Activity

  • drink a minimum of 500ml of fluid within two hours.
