Speed, Agility or Acceleration?

Now that the first three components of preparation are completed the next step depends on your goals with your athletes.
Are you looking to improve agility?
Are you looking to improve running technique?

This all depends on your team, your goals and where they are as far as athletic development.

We must remember that it is important for young athletes to build a base of general movement patterns. This part of the practice is an excellent opportunity to do that.
Agility drills include but are not limited to: ladder drills, change of direction, stop and start, reaction drills.

Running technique drills include simple exercises such as marching or walking in place. The other option is individual ball control drills. The choice is yours!

Next is your main theme for the training. That could be technique, tactics or both.

Next time we will talk about warm down/cool down.

Cheers!
