Specific Strength Exercises
for Soccer Speed Training

Specific strength exercises for soccer speed training are exercises that apply specific force needed for a precise movement. In speed development the pattern or running mechanics are challenged with resistance.

Sled training is one of the best soccer speed training exercises for this type of strength. Obviously qualified training facilities have "sleds " available for use.

At home you may use a toboggan. Below is the first step in sled training.

1. Start by standing up straight with the rope of the toboggan around your waist.

2. Lean forward and walk ten metres. There should be enough on the toboggan to force you to drive your legs into the ground.

3. Once you are comfortable with walking, progress to sprinting ten metres.

4. You may work up to twenty metres.

It is important you give 100% effort.

Rest one minute for every 10 metres completed.

The more effort you put into driving your foot into the ground to move forward, the greater reward occurs with this soccer speed training exercises for specific strength. This leads to better results on the field during the game.
